Out with the old, in with the... old.

Well old, but new to us. We have had many changes in the last few months. At the end of last year we sadly decided to move away from our beautiful home in Lehigh, and go a few hours north to Ozona, FL, near Clearwater.
At the risk of making myself cry I am posting a picture of the house we left.
(insert sigh and loud sniffling here)And here we have the house we moved to

It is actually very cute (no seriously), and we can't beat that we now live 1.5 miles from the beach! It is just in need of a little TLC. In the last pic you can already see one of the first updates we decided on for the outside. This little house belongs to Jims parents (Jim's dad built it himself and I just found out today that the lot this house rests on was where Elaine's father grew up, neat huh?)

Bill and Elaine are graciously renting it to us for the next ??? so that hopefully Jim can build up some business in this new area. So, not only is Jim trying to find new business in this area but he is also driving 1-2+ times a week back to Fort Myers area (where we moved from) for his class at FGCU and for business that he still has in that area. Add to that 3 kids and continuous projects outside and in and we are definitely keeping busy these days.

Another new oldie for us is our not-so new means of transportation. After serious consideration and some oh-so gentle persuasion (he he), WE decided that we no longer felt the need to be mini-van people, not that there is anything wrong with that :), and we sold our van and bought a Durango. Here are the before and afters:

BeforeAfter (oh yeah!)

You really can't beat a mini van when it comes to space, and we did love it while we had it, but what the Durango lacks in space, it makes up in style :). It still seats the same amount and has a surprising amount of space inside, it just lacks the trunk space. So we will live without it.

So there you have it. A few of the things we have been up to. Trading a 2006 house for a 1980-something house, and trading a 2006 minivan for a 2005 durango. Makes sense right?

PS Want to hear something else that makes total sense? The house above that Jim built, that we love, lived in for three years, and tried to sell for 7 months, will very soon be on the market, with our hopefully new realtor, as a short sale for approx. $69,900. If that doesn't make sense I don't know what does.... if anyone is interested, please let me know.

That is totally heart-wrenching!

I HATE this stinkin' economy! While not on the same depressing level, our neighborhood has homes selling around 86k - below what they sold for brand new in 1987 - what?!?!?!

Hope this new turn in life is a great one! We'd love to see y'all sometime soon.
