Sock hop

For an activity our ward had a sock hop that was really fun. We all got dressed up (even JIM!) and went in our 50's wear. The boys had it pretty easy with the white shirts and jeans, but I had to do a little work for Zoie and I. I looked endlessly online for a poodle skirt for Zoie but they were all really expensive and I would have had to pay shipping. Since it wasn't close enough to Halloween yet not much was available in stores. So I ended up just buying some felt at JoAnns and making hers. It turned out pretty cute I thought. For mine, I just so happened to have a poodle skirt from way back in the day, so my awesome Mom sent it to me in the mail. Of course I had to do a little work to it to make it fit so I could breathe, but fortunately it wasn't too hard.

Most school spirit

At playgroup we had a school spirit day, and Zoie won the award for most spirited. I just had to post the pic because she looks so friggin cute in her gator wear. Sorry family and friends, I promise I am not betraying the good ol Huskers, its just that gator stuff is so easy to come by here, whereas Nebraska stuff is not.

SOOO behind (first day of school)

Obviously my children are not having their first day of school in October but alas, I am just now getting to posting the pictures of it. Okay, how sad is that?
Anyway...Nolan had a good first day of school as usual, I drove him even though I think he would have prefered to ride the bus (he got to ride the bus home). I don't get it, I never rode the bus a day in my life and would not have wanted to, but Nolan has a full-on break down if he misses riding the bus in the morning. Weird. I prefer the extra sleep. Aidan had his first day of pre-kindergarten. He did pretty well considering he had never been to school before. He was not happy when I left though, as you can see from his pic below, but he still did fine. However, the second day of school was a different story. He freaked out and did not want to go. He was really excited all summer about starting school, but I think he realized that it was not all fun and games as he expected. After about two weeks of kicking and screaming everyday, he know goes to school happy (mostly).

Fall Envy

I am so missing the seasons right now. It seems like everyone I know (outside of FL) is posting pretty pics of fall leaves, and I don't have any. So sad. I told Jim that I want to take a trip somewhere to see some fall, but it's just not in the books right now...bad economy...blah, blah. We are saving up for our own little vacation, but its slow going so it probably will not be before fall is over...(sigh). I "borrowed" a fall pic from my sis-in-law Livia's blog (hope she doesn't mind). It's of the mountain viewable from my Mom's kitchen window (and I'm sure Kev and Livia's as well), with some nice leaves. Thanks Livia :). I may just make it my screen saver....

Family Day

As a sort of last fun outing of the summer we went back to Sun N Fun. We had a great day because having both Jim and I there meant that we had two adults and we could take turns with each other watching the kiddos and going on the waterslides. I obviously don't get to do that when I take the kids places by myself. Of course we also spent a lot of time together.

AND... this is definitely blog worthy, Nolan, who was afraid of even putting his face in the water forever, now is brave enough to go off the high dive. It's cute because he's still pretty timid up there, but he does it. Here's some pics
Nolan preparing for his jump..

Nolan jumping! You can see how he kind of crouches and goes off sideways,

I guess that's less scary or something.

Zoie, having a blast with the toys we brought from home.

Zoie took this pic of Jim and I. Not too bad huh?

Aidan, trying to fight me for the camera because he saw that Zoie got to take a picture and so now he must take one also.

Chuck E Cheese's!

I am thrilled to announce that we now have a Chuck E Cheese in Fort Myers! That place is a mad house though, I guess because there was no place to take kids for safe indoor entertainment before. Anyway, Zoie and I went with our friends Emily and Jocelyn and it was tons of fun. Not too bad for the money either, we got out of there under $13 for game tokens and lunch. We have already been back several times. Here are some highlights...Zoie loved the rides.
Zoie and Jocelyn playing air hockey. It was funny to watch.
I am pretty sure Jocelyn won, Zoie needs to work on her coordination...

All of us after lunch.
Zoie fits right in with the teletubbies, ha!
This is Zoie on the way home...
I get no love I tell ya.
